This review is for the 500g jar of Homepride Tuna Pasta bake sauce.
We tend to eat a lot of pasta in our house, I think it's a good, cheap source of getting carbohydrates into your diet and it's so versatile it can go with lots of different sauces and meals.
I tend to buy Homepride sauces when they are on offer for £1 and usually then I'll stock up on different ones. This tuna pasta bake sauce requires a couple of additional ingredients, 185g tinned drained tuna and 100g grated cheese and of course 200g dried pasta in whichever shape you prefer.
The sauce is a creamy tomato type sauce with onion and a hint of basil alongside other herbs and spices. Personally I also like to add some diced onion and mushrooms to give it a bit more texture and flavour. This 500g jar will serve 4 but I think to get a more accurate portion it'd serve 3 with side salad etc.
It is easy to prepare with indication on the label that you do not have to boil the pasta first, you can add dry pasta to the casserole dish, pour over the sauce and tuna and place in the oven. Personally I always boil the pasta first because I find the pasta can come out a but chewy if you don't, and also because it halves the cooking time in the oven!
This is a dish I like to have every one and again, but I'd get fed up of it if I had it too often ad it can be quite rich due to the creaminess of the sauce. I think it's a great, cheap way to feed a family of 4 and can be a comforting, filling meal.
Thank you for reading x
Summary: Good cheap meal
