Advantages: Natural flavour, goes far

Disadvantages: Sloppy consistency, too basic, overpriced

To be honest, when I bought this pasta sauce I was probably convinced by the trendy packaging and the 'Jamie Oliver' name. The sauce comes in a round jar with a funky illustrated label and costs £1.80 in Tesco. I'd tried another flavour before (tomato and artichoke) and wasn't completely convinced, but I thought I'd give the range another go. Like the tomato + artichoke, I found the tomato + chilli to be a very simple sauce (very easy to make at home given half a minute). The upside of this is that it does taste very natural and not at all synthetic. Although the sauce doesn't have a very much texture, it's much like a passata... the consistency is rather sloppy, but it does go far and it's not watery - its coats the pasta very well. The taste is perhaps a little too strong (a little bit like concentrated tomato puree) so you wouldn't want to use to much of it, and it might be best used when mixed with other ingredients. The chilli flavour is very potent, but I found this to work well with the texture and flavour of the sauce. It's fairly likely I'll buy this sauce again, but purely because of convenience, in this respect it is somewhat overpriced.
