Hot Hot! Brave folk should try this sock-knocking-off sauce!

Not for the faint hearted! I love dipping sauces and all things hot, my favourite being thai sweet chilli dipping sauces. My boyfriend saw this and thought of me (he is a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession for 'cool' packaging). It is J-Me by Jamie Oliver, available from jamieoliver.com in the 'shop' section (believe it or not!) I first tried it when I had breaded chicken in tortilla wraps, but I am so glad that I decided to use it as a side dip rather than smear it all over, because WOW is it hot! At first taste it is like any other sweet chilli sauce, but tastes sort of richer...and then it hits you BANG at the back of your throat and before you know it you can't feel your tongue! Although if I had actually read the snazzy looking label i would have noticed the phrase "knock your socks off". I thought that would put me off but I keep going back for more. The one thing I don't like is that the bottle has quite a large opening so it is very easy to accidentally pour too much of this lethal sauce, you have been warned! The lid becomes an issue when you think that chilli sauce would be the best thing on your burger (when drunk) and have no control over how much to use!! Guaranteed to make your hangover somewhat worse with the added injection of heartburn from spice over load! I am not doing a very good job here, because believe it or not I think I quite like this little devil. I don't think I would buy it again but I am glad to have tasted it. One reason I wouldn't buy it again is I don't know where it is from, i presume Sainsbury's would stock it, and on jamieoliver.com it comes in at a whopping £3.50 (I daren't even look how much postage is!) So for a 300g bottle of something that may kill you, I think you should stay away unless you are in desperate need to prove yourself! Something for 'the lads' I think! Although this, and the other J-Me products are packaged really nicely; so if you have a friend who likes a particular food, or cooking in general (and appreciates funky looking packaging) then a selection of Jamie's products would make a nice present.
