Advantages: Tasty, easy to use and looks great
Disadvantages: Couldn't find any signs of mushrooms in it, only lightly flavoured
When it comes to cooking I admit wholeheartedly to being a lazy bones. I rather often pick up cook in sauces to help me make quick and interesting meals with and Loyd Grossman is a range that I simply adore. Currently on offer in Asda at 83p a jar these glass jars hold 350g of sauce and not only in this flavour but in many and I hadn't tried this one out before so i couldn't wait to try it out!
The Packaging is simple. Easy to open and we are clearly told what it is on the front and then on the back of the label ingredients and a full nutritional chart is stated and information on how to use it is also given etc.
The Sauce Itself:
Bright red in colour and when you first open the jar you can really smell the sweet tomatoes this contains along with a small hint of garlic. You can use this any way you want to of course. I personally used this as a stir in sauce to fried mince and onions and heated it on the hob till warm and thickened or you can heat up the sauce for a few minutes and tip it on cooked pasta...its a versatile sauce!
Through cooking this does thicken slightly though has a gloopy sort of consistency and sort of looks home made rather than brightly coloured and smooth like say a Dolmio sauce. It taste really of fresh tomatoes, with a hint of a mushroom flavour and you can slightly taste garlic in there to along with parsley and oregano. It's a well seasoned sauce, none oily and really delicious!
I love this high quality, tasty sauce, its easy to use and very versatile indeed and I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing this again in the future!
