Advantages: quick, hot, tasty
Disadvantages: too hot
I noticed in the local Safeway flyer that comes through my door each week, Oriental Express Stir fry?s were on buy one get one free. I am very partial to these so while out shopping I popped into my local store to buy some. To my disappointment, when I got there all that was left was sweet & sour, which I hate.
Next to them I noticed a different verity that I hadn?t tried before. It was called ? Sizzling Hot Spicy Szechwan Beef?. Well I?ll try most things once so I asked a girl stocking the freezers if they were on the same offer. ?Yes? she replied. So I bought them.
There is little packaging to fill up your dustbin, as they just come in the right size bag. The bag is the same design as the regular stirfry?s but the main colour is black with a red top. On the front theirs a picture of a wok with the product in it cooking. On the reverse a list of Ingredients include:
Noodles, water, wheatflour, colour.
The sauce: water, seasoning, colour, soy sauce, garlic, red chilli, marinated beef strips, onion, beansprouts, green beans, red peppers and water chestnuts.

All you need to do to cook them is. Heat 1 dessertspoon of oil in a pan (I am currently on a diet but really wanted to try them so I used a couple of squirts of a one cal oil spray, It was fine). Add the contents of the pack and stirfry on a medium heat for 7 minutes. Add a dash of water in the last couple of minutes of cooking. Then serve.
Cooking this really couldn?t be easier. A real fast food. You couldn?t get to and back from your local takeaway in that time. It simply cooks from frozen so there?s no defrosting to do.
The cooked product smells absolutely delicious and looks nice too. There are nice big slices of beef in it. I was expecting
it to be minced beef as they usually put in these things but it wasn?t. All the ingredients were nice looking and quite large enough to recognise them. I especially like the water chestnuts. I love these and they are really nice and crunchy. Just as they should be. There is plenty enough for one person in the bag.
There was plenty of sauce and it was lovely and tasty provided that is you like your food hot. This was quite hot. To be honest it was just a little to hot for me although I don?t mind a bit of a curry. I?m not one for having them to hot. I prefer to taste the food on my plate rather than have my taste buds totally scorched off.
There are two more stirfry?s in the ?Sizzling Stirfry? range. They are Bang Bang Chicken and Hot and Sour Prawns. These stirfry?s are £2.09, the same price as the other verities,
All in all. I would recommend this product to anyone. Although as I said, I thought they were a little too hot for my liking. They do call them selves ?Sizzling hot? though so that is what you should expect. They do live up to their description.
Enjoy!
