When it comes to Patak's Biryani Curry Paste, don't make the mistake my wife did and think it's a sauce and pour loads of the stuff into a meal, not only will it scorch your bottom the next day but it will have you desperate for a glass of water for much of the night because if done like that it's far too salty and concentrated. She tried to repair the disaster by adding a bit of cream and water but it had no effect on the saltiness of the meal.
That's not to say it's a bad product, in fact it's great value when used correctly. When it comes to sauces, pastes and other Indian cuisine items, Pataks is a bit of a staple in our family. A bit pricier than some of its counterparts but they usually do the job.
I normally use this to add sparkle to a quickly made after-work meal, it's got a distinctive biryani flavour to it, as the paste contains a blend of all the spices necessary. The only warning with it really, is to go easy on it. For an ample portion of chicken, rice, onions and peppers spruced up with this paste - I use two average sized spoonfuls of it.
I have a slight incling that the saltiness somehow finds its way down to the bottom of the paste, so the last few times you use it may taste different to the first ones.
