Advantages: Nothing.

Disadvantages: Thin, Greasy. Weak flavour. Salty. Gelatinous.

As I've said before, I do often try out the value ranges of the various supermarkets - and it can be a bit hit and miss.....some providing great value for money and others providing a product so bad that I couldn't be paid to eat it! Unfortunately, the Sainsbury Basic Creamed Chicken Soup fits into the latter of these categories.....it really isn't great at all! I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of tinned soup anyway, but I do think there is place for Heinz Soup for example, but this soup is about as bad as it gets!

I can't even say that it's a positive to say that this soup only costs 17p.....because even that is too expensive. Infact, if they gave this soup away I wouldn't say it was good value....it really is that unpleasant. If you're on a tight budget, there are better options!

The soup comes in a can - and all that's needed is to pour it into a saucepan and heat it up. It takes about 3 minutes of heating before it's ready. I have to admit that from the moment I poured it in the saucepan I didn't think it looked very appetising, but I was doing it for my son who is a fan of tinned soup. However, I found the soup to be very thin and watery and yet still quite gelatinous. It certainly wasn't the freshest soup I'd ever smelt and although it did smell chickeny, it smelt of those slimy bits of chicken that no one particularly wants to eat.

I had a taste before giving it to my son and this didn't do anything to change the first impressions. It tasted weak, greasy and just nasty - and very very salty. Although there was a basic undertone of chicken, this was not a strong flavour and mostly tasted bland and thin. There was certainly no creaminess or depth of flavour. After passing it to my son, who will generally eat anything, he left most of it uneaten and wasn't a big fan either!

I really can't recommend this soup.....there is nothing that makes me think anyone would like it. And no, in case you're in any doubt, I won't be buying it again!

Summary: Just horrible.
