It tastes good and makes a nice sauce for my pasta bologonaiser.

SAINSBURY'S ONION and GARLIC PASTA SAUCE.

Whilst searching for my usual pasta sauce, I spotted this one in my local Sainsbury's, and for a large jar full of 500grams thought I would give it a try, as it looks good and wanted to save a few pence.

Ive tried the cheaper brands before from another supermarket but as this ones cheap at just under a £1.00 thought I would give it a try.

It comes in a glass jar, (which I wash out afterwards)and give to my mum as she fills them up with homemade jam, bless her.

This comes in a thick glass jar with Sainsbury's clearly marked on the front, and is a good sauce, the jar is recyclable, and is also suitable for vegetarians. It has a wrapping across the middle which i found washes off easily with hot soapy water, it has a screw off lid which takes a little while to open, but nevertheless the sauce inside smells really nice, and pours out ok, not to thick, but not to watery like some of the other cheaper sauces I have tried.

The smell you can smell is definietely garlic, it is not too overpowering, but smells nice and I noticed that this sauce contains onions to so that you dont have to add onions to the mince, but I usually do anyway.

I usually cook my mince, I have already reviewed the mince i use, add a few chopped tomatoes, but you dont have to because this can contains loads of tomatoes anywayand I usually add a few mushrooms cooked to my sauce as I like to have a bit of bite in my pasta bologonaise. I dont like spagetti unfortunately, silly as I do like pasta, which I buy from Sainsbury's too.

I found that this sauce was really nice considering the price of it, and it didnt have that cheap and nasty flavour that some of the cheaper ones have.

I used a whole jar of this sauce for a large pan full of mince, and that served four people and it was really nice and tomatoey but you could definietely taste the garlic and the onion too.

The texture was good too, no big lumps or overpowering taste of garlic all in all this was a nice combination and in will definetely be buying this again, as it saved me a few pence and did the job just the same as the more expensive one i usually buy.

Thanks for reading and rating my reviews.

        .

One of my favourite home cooked meals is Spaghetti Bolognaise. I've never made the sauce from scratch though, and tried this last week. I always buy a Sauce that has Onion and Garlic in it, as I like the taste of that mixed in with the Tomato and Mince, so that is how I ended up trying this one.

Ragu normally was my favourite until they seemed to change the recipe a couple of years ago and in my view the taste isn't that good. Also a jar of Ragu and Dolmio in my Sainsbury's was costing £1.72 for 500g, whereas this one only cost 98p. I was expecting it to be a bit more knowing Sainsbury's pricing, but I was happy to buy and try at that price.

The packaging is quite simple, but that makes it look more expensive in my view. It is a clear glass jar which is quite thick and wide. It goes in at the top, but the opening is quite wide as well. Not wide enough for me to get my plastic spoon in to get every last dreg out, so I had to vigerously shake the drops out and hope they didn't splatter all over the kitchen! It has a screw top lid and a white wrap around label. It states on the label that it is made in Italy and Gluten Free.

Upon opening the jar you see that the sauce is quite runny. You can see the odd shard of Onion in the sauce and you can smell a nice scent of herbs/onion/garlic tomato. Not overpowering and I don't think this smells as strong as the Ragu one, but it is more a subtle hint scent.

So I cooked with this no problem and settled down to eat it. The taste was lovely. It didn't taste that processed and the flavours mixed in well. Although you could taste the Garlic, I didn't have that problem when you can taste it for hours to come, or if you burp then you taste and smell it. It was a lovely Sauce and I will buy again as the price was good and the quality was good also.

        My new choice of Sauce.
