      Great gravy!

Ever since Christmas and the usual 100 pound turkey arriving for 3 people I have gone turkey mad! I love turkey and since having some at Christmas I now take any opportunity to stuff some since (pardon the pun lol).

However I only like turkey in a roast dinner or with salad/sandwiches. I have made a couple of roasts with turkey recently but I have to admit that although I can cook up everything required for a nice roast dinner I'm absolutely terrible at making gravy which is why when I saw this in Sainsbury's priced at 66p a packet I decided I really should try it out!

      The Packaging:

Orange plastic squarish packet and on the front of said packet there is a photograph of a traditional roast dinner with the gravy being poured on it with a gravy boat. I'm told it is (S) Schwartz Mix For 'Classic' Roast Turkey Gravy. On the back of the packet other information given includes being told a bit about the product, I'm told how to make it up and heat it through, nutritional information, ingredients and allergy advice is given, the weight of the packet is stated which is 25g and contact details for Schwartz are listed. Nice easy to open packet this is and it's informative enough too.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packet:

Just add water to prepare this classic roast turkey flavour gravy with a hint of herbs.

      To make:

Add 300ml (1/2 pint) of cold water into a saucepan with this mix and bring to the boil and leave it to simmer for 2 - 3 minutes or you can prepare this in the microwave following the instructions I just gave and place it in a microwavable bowl/dish for about 4 minutes.

      The Gravy Itself:

Soon as you tip the dark brown powder into the saucepan or microwavable dish it smells rich and like turkey really (it does contain 5% turkey powder by the way so isn't suitable for Vegetarians) and it heats up and thickens really well into a light brown, smooth glossy gravy with ease.

Taste wise this is superb actually. Well seasoned, it really does taste of turkey and of course you can use this on roast turkey, chicken and pork if you'd like to, use it in pies...whatever you wish really.

It has a hint of a vegetable taste to it as other flavourings in this mix do include celery and onion and there are a few flakes of green coloured herbs scattered in it too which I think is parsley at a guess and adds a sort of freshness to it all.

Rich and tasty this is so easy, even for me to mix up and even I can get a lovely gravy with no floury lumps in it!

Recommended by me, I like everything about this and think not only does it taste high quality but is great at the price too!
