Disadvantages: None at all
Whenever I can save a few pennies I will certainly do so. With rising costs of everything at the moment I am aware I am not alone in doing this. For years I bought HP Sauce convincing myself it was the best however in the past few months since cutting back there is only one I have been buying often and its this Tesco Everyday Value Brown Sauce.
This comes in one size as far as I am aware of and thats in large plastic see-through bottle with a bottom opening white plastic flip top lid to it and it holds 560g. On the front label we are told that it is Tesco Everyday Value Brown Sauce 'Tasted And Approved By Customers', there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown along with little pictures of sausages and eggs and so on and a photograph of a fried looking breakfast. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes ingreidents and allergy advice is given, storage advice is given, a full nutritional chart is listed, the size is stated (as I have listed already) and contact details for Tesco are clearly given. I like the bottle this sauce comes in and the way you can squeeze the sauce out of the bottom of it with ease and there is also a slight curve to the large bottle which makes it easier to handle.
Dark brown, glossy and easy to squeeze out of the bottle I really like this particulary on my sausage and my bacon sandwiches. The sauce has a slightly fruity, malty and sharp taste to it which is really tangy and rather strong in flavour. I can taste a vinegar taste to it, feel it is very well seasoned and what is good about it is that when it is popped on warm/hot foods it doesn't go all runny like brown water and it holds itself very well indeed!
I really like the quality of this and can't believe the price of it for such a large bottle is only 30p and with only 12 calories and just a trace of fat and saturates per tablespoon it isn't bad on the old hips either!
Summary: A great cupboard buy!
