Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: not the best
Tesco value pasta sauce come in a 440g glass jar with a screw top . It has the usual tesco value packaging which has recently changed and is shockingly not blue and white anymore. What first attracted me to this sauce was the price. At 39p it is an absolute bargain. I buy a lot of the tesco value range as I like to get the most for my money when shopping.
I find this sauce tastes quite bland and sweet but it's perfect for chucking in a spag bol or my personal favourite is pasta and meatballs with a splash of garlic added. Since changing the packaging I've also noticed that the sauce has changed, it now has a lot more chopped tomatoes in and it's quite thick with a lot of substance. It still has herbs in which I find awful for sticking on my teeth, I always have to check in the mirror after eating this sauce.
It is quite high in sugar at 6.3 grams but as I'm currently following a calorie controlled diet, hoping to finally lose my baby weight this isn't whats most important to me and at 94 kcals for the whole jar, I think this pasta sauce is great!
I would recommend this sauce if you take it for what it is. It is by no means the most amazing or flavourful but for 39p I'm willing to keep using it
