I was really excited when this sauce came out as I love sweet and sour chicken and I usually like Uncle Bens products. I didn't find it in my local supermarket so when one day I did, I happily grabbed a jar but thankfully I didn't get over excited and grab many.

The jar is 500g and has cooking instructions on the side. I find that helpful because although it is easy to guess the instructions, it is always good to have conformation if you are not a regular cook. I think one jar is enough to cook for 4-5 people.

The sauce was thick and had big chunks of vegetables you would normally find in a sweet and sour (green bell peppers, pineapples etc). It took little time too cook and it looked beautiful on the plate and exactly how you would expect it to be with perfect consistency and colour. The taste was nice but it was overly sweet and after a while I couldn't have more as the sweetness was ,to me, very off putting.

I never tried any other sweet and sour sauce to compare it to but comparing it to what I usually have in restaurants I'd say it's a bit too sweet. Such a shame as I thought I can have one of my favorite meals as often as I liked without worrying about costs too much.
