I had never tried pepper sauce before until my sister introduced me to this product. Now I'm hooked. This sauce is made by the German Verstegen compnay who make a range of sauces, spices and marinades which are imported into the UK. It is sold in a small 80g tub. I buy mine from my local butchers shop, I've looked for more of these sauces elsewhere but not found them so I think they are mainly available from speciality shops. It costs 99p for this tub. It sounds really pricey, but I think is well worth it. The sauce is easy to use, simply heat in the microwave and pour over your meat. It says it takes 12 seconds, but in reality is more like a minute. The sauce is hard to stir as the small plastic tub is full to the brim. The sauce itself is a creamy, pale brown colour with loads of darker specks of pepper and whole peppercorns. It is really thick, slightly thinner than mayonaise. It has a lovely peppery taste which is also mild and creamy. The whole peppercorns are nice and soft and chewy. Because it is such an intense sauce, the 80g tub goes a long way and can easily be shared. It is fairly fattening, coming in at 254 cals and 25.3g of fat per 100g, but the fat is probably what makes it taste so nice. I'm addicted to this sauce, the only drawbacks being that it is hard to find in the supermarkets and fairly expensive.
