      Yummy!

We had this for dinner on Monday night, we had it with essential Waitrose fresh penne pasta. Any regular readers of my reviews will know that my favourite food is cheese! I love the stuff and cant get enough of it. Therefore when we were browsing for a fresh pasta sauce and we spotted this we couldn't resist! The other option was a tomato and marscarpone sauce but this actually had more fat in so we opted for regular cheese!

We found this in the chilled section of our local waitrose. It cost £1.49 for 350g which was plenty to feed two of us, it would probably just about feed two adults and two children as we did have rather large portion sizes and our pasta was swimming in sauce! The packaging is identical to that shown above and the pot it comes in is nice and sturdy. The pot informs me that the sauce is suitable for vegetarians and can also be frozen on day of purchase. The best before date was at least a couple of weeks so it will keep in the fridge for some time too.

Cooking the sauce is easy, you simply heat it up on the hob for 4-5 minutes, stirring to ensure it doesn't burn. However, my partner decided he fancied a pasta bake type meal so I simply stirred the cold sauce into cooked pasta, topped with grated cheese and put it in the oven for about ten minutes.

When it emerged from the oven it smelled really good and very cheesy! It also looked very appetising so we couldn't wait to tuck in. Much to my delight the sauce was quite strong and it had a really nice flavour, the cheese used must be mature cheddar as it certainly had a nice kick to it. The sauce was quite thick and wasn't at all runny and therefore it coated the pasta really well. It made a lovely meal and I was very impressed with the taste.

This sauce isn't very good for you (much to my dismay or we would be having it every day!) I no longer have the pot but remember that half the tub contained about 15g fat. However, everyone deserves a treat once in a while and this is certainly a treat as its so tasty!

I will certainly be buying this again. It tasted divine and the price wasn't really too high. I recommend you all to give it a go!
