Advantages: convenient and low in calories

Disadvantages: You will be hungry by supper time!

I tend to buy tinned soup to take to work because it is convenient and nice to have something warm to fill my belly in the winter!

Weight Watcher's soups aren't the biggest tins in the world, the mexican Spicy Bean Soup that I am reviewing comes in a 295g tin. Although not considered to be a huge amount of soup, it does fill an average size bowl nicely, and keeps my hunger at bay for a few hours. My husband occasionally has the soup for lunch, but he does need a couple of slices of bread with it in order to fill him.

It's convenient for a few reasons, the tin has a ring pull so there is no need to carry a can opener and is warmed in the microwave in 2 1/2 mins (category E-850w). Just pour it into a bowl and it's ready in just over 2mins.

Weight Watchers products are made by Heinz, and designed fore those following the weight Watchers diet. All WW foods contain the number of WW points on the packaging. A tin of Mexican Spicy Bean Soup contains 1 1/2 points (very low).

A 295g tin contains 107 calories and 1.3g of fat, priced at 67p in Tesco. I think larger tins are available to buy.

I believe WW soups are better now than they have been in the past. They have always been tasty, but sometimes on the thin side. When I tasted the Mexican Bean I was pleasantly surprised. The soup wasn't thin at all, a nice consistency with plenty of texture. It contains tender vegetables, carrots, tomatoes, onions, red peppers, green peppers with haricot and kidney beans which bulks it out a bit and cumin and garlic to spice it up a bit. It does have a mild spice, but not too much even for those who don't like spicy food. it has a brown / red colour to it, looks appetising and smells delicious.

The soup is suitable for vegetarians and doesn't contain artificial colours or preservatives.

When opened, unused contents needs to be kept in a covered container in the fridge for up to 2 days - although saying that, I don't think anybody would be satisfied on half a can of WW soup!

Worth a try. thank you for reading.

Summary: Tasty.
