The Canon CanoScan 8800f
The canon CanoScan 8800f is a near perfect scanner. It is used in our school and after using it for recent Art coursework i was very impressed. It took around ten seconds to scan an A4 sheet, which is pretty quick in my opinion. The quality is also good. The colours come out well and although it was not perfect, it's hard to expect a perfect scan of a watercolour painting, as the colours were not bold. After asking my teacher about it, and getting a mumbled response about concentrating on my work, i decided i would have to check out what it comes with online. I was surprised to see that our school's Adobe photoshop Elements 5, a great program, had come with the scanner. Also included is ArcSoft photo studio 5, a not so great piece of software. Anyway, back to the scanner itself. As well as the scanner and software, it includes a trio of plastic adaptors. One is for 35mm filmstrips, one is for 35mm mounted slides and one is for medium-format film. Film takes longer to scan for obvious reasons, but my Media teacher told me that he was impressed with just how fast it could go compared to the old scanner. The white LED reaches peak really quick and is almost ready to use instantly.

Summary
If you want a scanner that is quick and easy to use this is for you. The speed is great and the only thing that let's it down is the not quite perfect quality although i'm sure that if it is good enough for GCSE and A-Level art work, then it's good enough for anything else. I would reccomend it, if you can afford the price.
You can buy it from amazon for £119.50. If you buy it from amazon you can also get a 3 year electrical appliance cover for only £27.99
