Canon Canoscan 4400F ... ordered this scanner on the internet and having been unable to examine it in any retail outlet . I had read good reviews on it and given it was a Canon product was relatively inexpensive and would scan slides it was ordered. Sadly while it certainly is very fast and produces excellent scanning results on documents and photographs its a whole different matter when it comes to the slide magazine :- 1) this will not accomodate AGFA plastic slide mounts as they are slightly thicker than Kodak carboard ones or other companies plastic mounts and like many people I have a large stack of AGFA slides all taken over the last 40 years that i wanted to scan onto a CD Not only w... Canon Canoscan LiDE 60 ... difficult comparing speeds but I did feel that it was a bit slow. Maybe that s just me expecting too much, as we do in this techno age. However the result was well worth the wait and it was not mega slow. I can see us using it a great deal and feel that it was worth the slightly more expensive price tag, than the more basic scanners were. We paid £59.99 from a high street chain store. * This Canon scanner measures 14 inches long by 10 inches with a depth of one inch. Canon Canoscan LiDE 25 ... guide is comprehensive, yet easy to follow, and becomes an excellent learn-as-you-go tool. An excellent OCR software package is included (OmniPage SE), together with Scangear, to further enhance the scanning facility. I was surprised at the quality and ease of photo scans. It will function on either USB1 or 2 although it does not work any quicker on USB 2. This is not a great problem as scans are quite fast anyway. The Canon site describes it well. Have been using for 3 months and it is a pleasure to work with. Ideal as a first scanner yet more that adequate for the more advanced user.
