Our office purchased the Epson scanner around 6 months ago, for a cost of approximately £250
The scanner is very easy to use and documents/images can be scanned and saved to your computer without hassle.
The scanner has a top load feeder which means that you can scan multiple pages as one document. There is a limit to the amount of pages but so far the largest document I have scanned has been 56 pages, without any problems. There is a choice of format for storing the documents, including pdf, Word and jpeg.
To scan photographs or single page documents, the lid of the scanner lifts and you place your document on the glass, like a more traditional photocopier/scanner.
The scanner is connected to my computer using a USB cable; however it is quite bulky which means you need to have sufficient room to locate it near your computer.
There is an option to scan documents to Word format, allowing you to make changes/add notes to documents when scanned. However this has been less efficient than the other formats. The scanner sometimes has difficulty in identifying characters and so the scanned document often needs edited to change these 'typos'. There are also difficulties with formatting in the Word document and again you will need to spend time correcting this.
Overall the scanner performs well, especially if you simply want to scan documents in pdf form to attach to emails etc.
