Advantages: Great quality

Disadvantages: A little pricey

After finally commiting my little 600 DPI scanner to the scrapheap, I realised I needed quality scanning at a reasonable cost.
One that could provide me with a decent picture grain and quality.

With modern download speeds, internet pictures can afford to be a bit bigger in Kb size for the sake of extra quality.

So I decided to purchase a `named` scanner with some good features.

The Epson Perfection 1650 seemed as good as any.
Sure you can pick up a budget scanner for £30 but at just over £100, this is by far the best quality scanner on the market for the money.

Looks/build.
------------
It looks like any normal scanner with its grey/tan body and lift up lid but it seems more sturdy than most out there. The lid is more rigid and has a feel of quality during operation.

Scanning speed.
---------------
Its a USB connection scanner so Windows 95 owners beware. You probably cant handle it.
However, scanning speed is lightning quick for such detail.

Quality of scans.
-----------------
Temendous. Only word to decribe it. It can capture at either 3200DPI or 1600 DPI. Both of these are sharp enough to please any eye.
It is supposed to offer 281 trillion colours so contrasts and shades will appear no matter how soft.

Extras.
-------
AS with most modern scanners, you have the facility to scan to web, scan to email and direct print using the buttons on the front of the scanner.
Handy if you need a quick image and dont want to set the scanner program up.

Overall.
--------
A superb scanner for its money. If you are looking at getting a new one and care about image quality, buy this scanner!

Where to buy it?
----------------
Its currently in the top 10 items on www.dabs.com and they have them on the website priced at £131.60
Why not buy one?
