Canon Canoscan FS4000US:
... I bought this scanner a few years ago it was quite expensive at more than £700 although at the time scanners of this resolution were in general even more expensive. It is quite an old design and most likely now to be found only on the second-hand market, but due to it s sturdy construction could make a sensible second-hand purchase when compared to the relatively cheap and cheerful scanners available now. It is ... Read the full review: Scan this... slowly by AndrewPo |

Plustek Opticfilm 7200i ... bought this scanner about a year ago. It seemed too good to be true. Good quality scanners from companies such as Nikon and Canon etc. had always been very expensive, costing several hundred pounds and yet have lower resolution (dots per inch) than this remarkably inexpensive device (I paid about £150 and I have seen it even cheaper in Jessops although they no longer seem to stock it) At this price level of course there has to be some compromise, and this is build-quality. It really is quite light-weight and flimsy in construction and the slides or negative strips have to be manually clicked through the device in their rather cheaply constructed mounts. Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II ... do you get your old pre-digi camera family snaps onto your PC? You can pay to have it done by the likes of Jessops, or you can do it yourself. You can either use a flatbed scanner to scan the prints or, if it has a film adaptor, you can scan the negatives or colour slides. However, if you want the best quality images for printing at A4 or even A3, the only answer is to get hold of a dedicated film scanner. Film scanners are available from several of the major camera manufacturers such as Canon, Nikon and Minolta. Canon Canoscan 2710 ... spent a while researching film scanners before I went ahead and purchaced one to help me work through the 2000odd old negatives I have to get up on the web for vanities sake. There were a number of options available in the budget range including some sub 200 pound scanners. In the end I settled for the Canoscan because it was reasonably priced and rated as good quality by a few websites. Also the fact it came with a APS attachment as standard helped me make up my mind. Setting it up was easy enough. It came with a SCSI 2 card which installed automatically on my Win98SE machine. The bundled software installed fine and sorted out the links with Photoshop6 which ...
