Reliability and speed are the professional features that warrant its successful use in desktop publishing. An optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi, together with the signal resolution of 36 bits (12 bit color) guarantees high quality color scanning. With the transparency unit, originals up to a maximum size of 215.9 x 297 mm can be scanned. The Linoscan 1200 allows for reflective originals up to 215.9 x 355 mm. Using Linocolor Elite, it is easy to establish a permanent scanning workflow for FPO images as well as for high quality images.

All entry-level Heidelberg scanners are delivered with first class scanning software. Linocolor Elite can be set to automatically take over and parameterize the major adjustments of the scanner. Brightness, depth, contrast, and hue as well as the removal of color casts are controlled automatically by Colorassistant. The optimum degree of color rendition is assured by the integrated Color Management Module. With the latest version of Linocolor Color Management has been made even easier. Soft proofs can be made on the monitor, in CMYK or RGB simply by embedding the appropriate ICC profile. It is also possible to generate custom profiles for individual applications by using the included profiling software Scanopen LS. Furthermore, the Apple Power Macintosh software package includes software for Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
