Got ME Baffled (HP Scanjet 3300C)

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages: Hard work to get running in windows ME

Although i am a great fan of HP products this one is not one of my favourite, it is very slow to scan. The image quality is not what i would expect from a great name like HP, it works well with windows 98 which i assume most of you guys are running the scanner on, however when i recently updated to windows me could i get the wretched thing to work, not for the life of me my pc suddenly decided it was time to behave like a spoilt brat with the blue screen of death poping up at the most unexpected moment and basically thrashing its heels in to the carpet saying no way am i working for you buddy. Then i had a little thought tried to get help from my pc manufacturer but did they want to know again a big fat no "sorry sir we cannot help you because u have upgraded your 3 month old pc with windows me and we can not support any software not supplied by ourselves" hmmmm. So i decided to goto the HP site where lo and behold they have a updated driver to run the scanner in windows me, great i thought problem solved, NOT now the only way i can use my pc without the BS of Death is to unplug the damn scanner and resign myself to the fact that all them photo's i want to sacn had better stay in the attic gathering dust for a few more years lol. So although it was a good scanner bit slow and not quite the quality I wouldnt recommend anyone using it with windows me.

Oh Oh, did i mess up LOL (Laugh Out Loud)

Seems that after six months of swearing at this piece of technology i had been installing the drivers incorrectly and now after downloading the updated driver from HP web site, IT WORKS, So I must most humbly apologise to HP for slating this Loverly piece of kit, although it's software is a bit limited and could have done with a few more bells and whistles.

Moral:
Dont judge a scanner by its driver.
