The HP ScanJet 6350C Series scanner automatically optimizes scan settings according to: 1) image type, such as color photos, black-and-white photos, text, or black-and-white line drawings; and 2) destination, such as a word processor or graphics application. HP PrecisionScan Pro's drag-and-drop capability offers extraordinary performance. Just push the scan button to scan photos, text, and logos simultaneously. Then select and drag each element into your favorite application that supports drag-and-drop. Each image is automatically optimized, and text is automatically recognized and immediately editable. You'll be amazed! The HP ScanJet 6350C Series automatically retains the page format, including columns. HP PrecisionScan Pro places text columns, photos, and drawings in frames (if your application supports them) on the page, providing an excellent reproduction of the look and feel of the original document. No more hours spent rebuilding your document in another application! Of course, it's also easy to reformat a multicolumn document or use a portion of the page in a single-column document. HP's Intelligent Scanning Technology also automatically deskews the page. In other words, if you place your page or photo askew on the scanning glass, the HP ScanJet 6350C Series automatically straightens the image. Plus, it automatically eliminates distortion resulting from scanning bulky documents, such as books and magazines. The deskewing feature also provides more accurate optical character recognition (OCR). Users can share the HP ScanJet 6350C Series scanner with a small workgroup over an existing network. The HP ScanJet 6350C Series includes HP PrecisionScan LAN, so everything you need is included. Simply connect the scanner to one user's PC and take advantage of common Windows 95, 98, or NT networking protocols to enable other users in the workgroup to access the scanning software. Supported protocols include TCP/IP and NetBEUI. Newest Review: ... about any windows software to Acrobat pdf files. I've been using a Hewlett Packard 6350C scanner at home for about a year, and it's predecessor the 6250C at work for a while longer and I have a few comments which might help others....... The scanning software seems to work well apart from an occasional annoying tendancy for the preview image to come up in grey when you want to scan in colour, requiring you to reselect 16m colours. Colleagues with similar HP scanners don't have this problem so maybe it's something odd with my computer's configuration Some of the other software is useful, but not directly. This is one of the best scanners, for home or small business, that I have used, which produces quality scans. ~~The Scanner~~ The scanner itself does not look all that good, it is a dark grey colour and is quite bulky. The reason it is so bulky and not slim-line like the majority of scanners is that it has a paper feeder on top of its lid! This I can see being useful if the job that involves a lot of repetitive ... The HP ScanJet 6350Cse is the Cyrano de Bergerac of scanners. The automatic document feeder (ADF), so prominently perched on this peripheral, makes it look somewhere between "officey" and downright homely. But like Cyrano, it won us over not by its looks, but by the quality of its output. However, great scanning ability does not come cheap; a high price is only fair for a scanning virtuoso. The Trial The ScanJet 6350Cse wasted no time impressing us with its speed and image quality. The quality of its grayscale scanning was unrivaled, and its color output was almost on a par with that of the Canon CanoScan FB 1200S. You also get some freedom ... Read the complete review
