Construction Top of body and cover of this scanner are made of a light plastic, and bottom of tank and bottom are painted in dark color. The cover is throwed off up and is fixed in a vertical position, if necessary it can be removed. The photosensitive elements are executed on CCD-technology. I bought this scanner three months ago from Sainsburys. First of all the scanner provided me with no end of problems with Kernell32.dll. This was a windows millennium flaw. So I looked on the internet and microtek supplied me with updated drivers. Once working the scanner has performed outstandingly. It has a 600 by 1200 resolution and 42 bit colour. Which provides great pictures. It also picks up the dust so regular cleaning of the glass is required. The only problem I have come across is that you need a large amount of ram as to scan 42 bit at 1000dpi requires more ram than I have(96Mb) So I don't advise any one to purchase it with less ram.
