Coolscan II was developed to provide high-speed, high-resolution scanning at an affordable price point. Coolspan II is smaller and more cost-effective. It is quieter and easier to use for novices or advanced amateurs when compared with competing brands. This new combination of price point and performance allows many more users to enjoy the benefits of personal film scanning. With Coolscan, Nikon pioneered the use of LEDs in a color film scanner. Now, Coolscan II pushes the envelope once again by incorporating high-intensity LEDs with highly customized colorimeteric curves. Not only do they provide higher speed scans, they contribute substantially to the uniquely faithful color reproduction from both negatives and slides. As always, LED-based design affords very low power consumption, virtually no heat dissipation or noise, as well as long life and durability.
