I was looking through the various categories and found this one. Colleges in Scotland.
Great, I thought, I can read about everyone else’s college.
Wrong - This is the first and only Opinion on any colleges in Scotland. -
Very curious- Are yoo all too busy working ?
O.K. - here goes. - I hope I can do it justice !
I have been fortunate to attend Anniesland College, Hatfield Drive Glasgow, on and off over the past 5 Years, as a part time student, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
The college is situated near Anniesland Cross in the North of the City, is easily reached by Train, and is well served by the Glasgow Bus services.
The college recently received the coveted “Charter-mark” for Excellence, which, in my opinion, was richly deserved.
The main building is built on three floors. 1st floor handles reception, finance, canteen and ‘metro’ library.
2nd floor is the domain of the School of Computing, consisting of CAD department, and another 4 large rooms, containing around 150 Computers, (700) MHz. 17" monitors. Networked
The 3rd floor is devoted to the School of Social Sciences and there are many outbuildings housing, Engineering, Electronics and Mechatronics.
The all important ‘canteen’ handles the ‘rush-hour’ 12.30 - 1.30 adequately, though it can sometimes get a wee bit crowded. In the summer months, the strain is taken off of the canteen by the open air burger stall - called the Food Zone. yummy !
The college library, also known as the ‘metro’ has an adequate selection of books and has 30 computers which can be booked for 3 hours at a time. The college computer network is connected to the Glasgow Telecolleges Network, which services all other 12 Colleges in Glasgow.
A college, or any other place is really only as good as it’s people. I have mostly had dealings with the
Computing and Communications Staff, and have no hesitation in awarding each and every one of them a ‘very useful’.
For instance, there is one tutor in the Computing Faculty who probably knows more about all Computing subjects than the Microsoft Team put together. - a sheer genius.
All in all, I personally would describe Anniesland College as a “Happy” College, and thoroughly commendable.
