Bridgwater ain't such a bad place!

I have been going to Bridgwater College for a number of years (when I left school and more recently for evening classes)

Firstly let me tell you a bit about the college.....

Bridgwater College is located in Somerset, with its main campus in Bridgwater, 5 minutes away from junction 23 of the M5. The land-based campus is in the village of Cannington. There are a number of centers in Bridgwater, Minehead, Yeovil and Paignton, so covers a large area of the south west.

The College has a reputation both regionally and nationally as a very successful provider of education and training, is a recognized Beacon College, one of only a handful of Ofsted designated Outstanding Colleges, and has four Centers of Vocational Excellence. Exam and course results consistently among the top, if not the best, of all education providers in Somerset.

Bridgwater College has around 20,000 students and over 1,000 staff. It has grown a lot in the time that I have known it, including the main campus itself.

There is an extensive curriculum, which covers the four key areas of Arts & Technology, Humanities & Sciences, Business & Professional Studies and Land-based Studies.

The College caters for all levels of study, from Year 10 and 11 school pupils attending on link and Diploma courses, right through to full Honours degree programmes. It is one of a few Colleges outside the private sector to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma. I recently went to a Bridgwater College graduation !!!!

A significant investment programme means the College accommodation is constantly developing. In recent years, £11 million has been invested.

I think it is a great college and Bridgwater as an area is improving, with no more stinky factory!!!

      Plus side to the college....
Loads of choice, opportunities, some good lecturers, good support, some great people.

      Bad side to the college....
Poor car parking, some rubbish lecturers and some foolish people.

Just wanted to let you all know about the college as just had some exam results for my AAT Tax and I passed!!! Well pleased, doesn't say much for the college though as I only went to 2 out of 16 lessons!!!!!

I am a student currently studying a BTEC National Dipoma in Electroics and Computer Engineering. After having a crap year at A levels I decided to move to Bridgwater college to change the direction of my study. I was welcomed much better than Filton and Weston college and this made a huge difference as the people were much more willing to help me. The college itself is situated on the North West of Bridgwater and does not have the best surrounding areas with probably one of the worst council estates right next to it and a cellophane factory only minutes away. Whereas Bridgwater itself is horrible and very smelly due to the factory the college is very nice and fenced in as if it wasn't part of Bridgwater. The college has very good resources in a number of different subject and evening classes and most of the lecturers I have are pretty decent people who generally want you to succeed. The computer system is fairly good with big investments each year to help keep up to date and the college has a good library of books and other resources. On the whole the college is not bad and the people and party are good. The only real downer is the location as it is not the best in the world but this is the flood riden UK after all. Oh my course is excellant by the way if you just don't know which way you want to progress at university i.e. electronics or computing. I'd also advise anyone to do a BTEC National Dimploma as well its much easier than crappy A levels.
