      Very helpful

      A great college

I went to Bromley College about a year ago. When I was there I study NVQ level 1 and NVQ level 2 in hairdressing.

      NVQ Level 1 hairdressing:
When I did my level one I was doing it full time. I started my course in september and I finished it by March. If you are under 19 the course is free to do. I went to college 3 days out of 7 but one a friday i worked in a salon because you need to have a work placement.

When you do NVQ level 1 you will shampoo clients hair, do some health and safety, helping the Level 2 and asking the phone to make book in clients. You will have to buy your kit which is about £150. When I finished my course i started to do my level 2 so that it would not take me long to do it. A NVQ level 1 course will take about 1 year to do.

      NVQ Level 2 hairdressing:
NVQ level 2 should take you about 2 years to do. You will need to have a work placement for it. If you did Not want to do NVQ level 1 you will need to have four GCSEs to A-D. You will have to pay for the course Course Materials which is £110.00. If you did not do your NVQ level 1 you will have to pay £174.50 for your hairdressing kit but if you did you level 1 you will have to pay £72.00. You will also have to wear a Uniform which cost £62.27 .

You will do health and safety
Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
      Advise and consult with clients
      Cut hair using basic techniques
Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques
Change hair colour using basic techniques

Plus two of the following optional units:

Perming Options - Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques OR H15 Perm, relax and neutralise hair
relax and neutralise African Caribbean hair
      Fulfil salon reception duties
Promote additional products or services to clients
Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

When I did My level 2 it took me about 1 and a half years to do. If you would like to you can also do NVQ level 3 hairdressing. If you wanted to do that you will need to work at a salon for a year then you can go back to college and do the level 3.

Bromley College has a lot a students there and I really like going there to do my course. They also have some food places where you can go and buy somethink to eat.

They do a lot of course there like

      Animal Care
      Beauty Therapy
      Business Studies
      Computing and IT
      Construction and the Built Environment
      Early Years and Childcare
      Electrical Installation
      Electronic Engineering
      First Aid
      Health and Social Care
      Hospitality and Catering
      Legal Studies
      Motor Vehicle
      Return to Learn for Adults
      Secretarial and Office Skills
      Travel and Tourism

It is very easy to get to bromley college and i would say that if you wanted to do a course there i would go and give it a try.

      Thanks for reading x x
