I studied for my biology degree at The University of Abertay Dundee, and it is an excellent university. The laboratory facilities are brilliant, with many labs for different disciplines. I can only speak for my course, but the lecturers were in the main all friendly, approachable and helpful.
The university itself is in a ... great location, with some very much improved facilities since I attended, namely the new student association building. I have not been inside this, as the plans and fighting were still all over the place when I was a student. But from the outside it looks impressive! The library is also excellent, very well stocked and comfortable, with a lot of IT suites in addition to the many IT suites in the main university building. The location is nice and central with plenty of pubs and the main shopping centres close by, as well as being within easy walking distance from the rail station, car parks and bus stops. There are also a lot of student accommodation within minutes walk. Read the complete review |

(Stow college is a college in Glasgow, Scotland.)
With regards to a Stow music course:
In terms of lecturers I got, a few were very good but the majority unhelpful with poor teaching standards.
They were fantastic, informative tutors who knew their stuff.
The rest of the music course staff should pull their finger out ... and make an effort.
Stow college may be good for other subjects but for music its is one major headache...
I would actively encourage potential students to consider other options.
I would also encourage the better lecturers to work for a different institution as their talents are wasted in this place! (certainly in terms of music courses!!!)
As a previous review happened to mention, one member of staff was appaulling in terms of actually showing up for classes. (I'm probably being too polite in not mentioning this member of staff!!!) Either that or he was late.... (in fact when wasn't he late!).
However I would like to highly commend Mr Gunn who is one of the best tutors I have ever had the pleasure of being taught by. Read the complete review |

I thought this review was needed to counter balance the other review from the staff member from Stow.
Sorry but everything i've heard about Stow has been bad.
I know one guy thats done a Computing course there, knows as much as when he started, in fact he thinks he knows what to do and doesnt, meaning he can/does ... make things worse often.
It's also well known its basically impossible to fail at Stow.
May be a good point or a bad point depending what your perspective is.
However one of the reasons its impossible to fail Stow is that the lecturers often and with the full knowledge of most anyone help students pass.
ie ....letting students take tests home to complete or resit.
Voiding the reason for a test.
This upset a few people i know that actually did work, as people they knew shouldnt have passed and got extra time or even test answers, passed with the same qualification as them.
This isnt limited to one or two occasions, i know of multiple instances from just the people i know.
Its not that great as its made out.
Also be noted.....with a qualification you WONT get into some Universities.
Glasgow Caledonian, i know, basically just refuses to accept people from Stow on multiple courses.
Edit for comments.
Not sure how the product thing works, seen other college reviews in this section so put it here.
And people shoudlnt go to Stow, so why would i give advice for people to go there.
Its proved their qualifications are worthless by numerous friends who have done it and the fact Universities refuse to enter someone with a qualification from there.
Further Edit..... have 2 items in the Product Proposal queue, that seem not to be moving. Also waiting on an entire new section in the games area.
This review is here because theres no product it can go in and tbh it will take a while anyway it seems. Read the complete review |
