Christmas Gift Ideas for Men
Disadvantages: May not be what they want
Gifts for men - its what us women always moan about. We can never think of what to get them!
Anyhow with the recession now biting many peoples' pockets I try to be very low budget with my gift items - but do still like to give token presents to other members of my family. The only people who get larger gifts are my sons.
As others have said, these days people tend to just buy something for themselves if they want it. And I have long since given up trying to buy the 'ideal' present which is 'just what I've always wanted!'.
He thinks Christmas is a waste of money anyway (Scrooge!) - and as we do not have much these days anyway I do not try buying much for him. I do try and pick up inexpensive DVDs, and also a hat or perhaps a torch - something useful. Plus usually a Diary he uses to record when he plants items in the garden.
Now grown up and mostly want money for their computer items. I would not try and buy them clothing etc but always like having some items wrapped up for Christmas Day. One son is harder to buy for and he usually will have a Wrestling autobiography of some sort, lots of smellies and shower gels (useful if not exciting), perhaps a set of small screwdrivers (for opening up his pc) and maybe a novelty item or two - this year I have a money box in the shape of a computer key.
Younger son loves Christmas so although he'll have money for the main present I will also get him smellies. Last year I also made a sweet tree full of Malteaser Teasers. I also have Racing Grannies in Wheelchairs from Hawkin's Bazaar this year - just for a giggle. Last year I got a cat pencil sharpener - where You had to stick the pencil in its bottom and it would miaow - no wonder!
Unfortunately we do not have any Dads to buy for but I have the following:
===BROTHER IN LAW===
Another difficult one - this year he's having a DVD on Tigers and a scarf.
===NEPHEW IN LAWS===
They don't really expect anything much but will be having scarves. Last year I got them torches.
This may all sound uninspiring and cheap - but I think the thing is to remember people - not to worry and overspend buying things they probably wouldn't want anyway. Whatever you buy people probably would not be what they would have chosen for themselves - so why stress over it.
Summary: Just get people a token gift - why stress over them
