Christmas Gift Ideas for Women
Advantages: I know (hope) I will be getting presents I'll really like
Disadvantages: None, we should appreciate all gifts
I would consider myself one of those who is hard to buy for.
It's not that I don't appreciate gifts it's just that I think if I was buying for myself it would be difficult. I stick to my favourite make up brands most of the time, and don't wear a lot of make up or wear it often, the same goes for perfumes. I lots of nice shoes and handbags that I use only when going out which isn't that often. Clothing is a bit of a no-no at the moment as I've joined the gym and am losing weight and hope to continue to lose it. Also because of this I'm not too keen on putting it back on over Christmas so wouldn't really want choccies. I also have no interest in jumping out of a helicopter!
As you have probably gathered, I am that one nightmare person! So what do I want? Well I actually know a few things, and can guess others.
I have been considering a Kindle for a while and decided I was going to buy one when my daughter, who lives away, told me she would get it as it is something she can order online and have delivered to me. She also sarcastically told me I can then keep my own money for something exciting like the new carpet cleaner I've been looking at! She's also sending me some Amazon vouchers which is great as they can be sent to me in an email and I can use them to download some books for my new Kindle.
My other daughter for the last few years has taken me out some time during the week before Christmas and treats me to a hair cut and colour, some lunch and a couple of drinks. I really enjoy this as it's nice to relax when I've been busy at work and doing my gift shopping and arranging food and drink for the Christmas. She also usually buys some kind of beauty products to unwrap, possibly some expensive hair care products which I wouldn't dream of spending £15 a bottle on but make a nice treat.
I would also like some comfortable shoes. I have asked the above daughter to hint at my husband in this direction. I am on my feet all day at work and swear by Fly Flot shoes for comfort and could do with a new pair. I realise it's winter but I'd also like some Fit Flop sandals or flip flops as I have a couple of holidays sorted for next year and would love to receive them as a gift but am not sure I could bring myself to spend £50 on flip flops for myself.....if they were a gift though....that's different.
My sister and I exchange smaller presents, usually some nice cosy slippers and a dressing gown and then we hit the January sales together. We stopped buying each other more extravagant gifts many years ago as we were buying each other similar gifts each year.
My sister in law and her partner come to us for dinner and always come with hat, scarf, gloves and socks for my husband and I (a set each, not to share lol). They also bring a bottle of something ludicrously high in alcohol content to open on Christmas evening along with some tasty treats and a new board game to try which, combined with the previously mentioned bottle always makes for an interesting evening.
I received a digital photo frame last year which was great as I was running out of space for pictures on the walls. I do forget to turn it on a lot of the time but it's always on over Christmas and it's nice when the family are over to look at the pictures.
There are many lovely gifts I have received over the years, last year I was surprised with a ring I had been looking at and wasn't aware anyone knew I was looking at it. I also received a beautiful photo frame containing a picture of my parents on their wedding day. This meant a lot to me as they are no longer with us and probably cost less than any other gift I receive.
As we have a relatively small family we can spend a bit more on each other than other families might. I don't think it is necessary to spend much to make a good present but I do love receiving luxurious items which I wouldn't normally buy for myself.
Summary: Have a great Christmas everybody and I hope Santa is good to you all! x
