Advantages: Some very good Kit that comes as standard very hard wearing some decent specifications
Disadvantages: Very heavy no CPU installed some extra costs necessary
The HP Proliant BL460C server is the standard entrance model.
This server has many great features one being the hot swap bays which mean you can add a second drive without turning the server off and taking it apart. This is good for weekly back ups and securing large amounts of data. The server is quite a small device with limited upgrade ability.
This server comes with no CPU so its worth to note this would be extra and could put an extra two hundred pounds on the over all cost. The server being small is still very heavy and two people would be necessary to install the device for safety reasons. The device fits to any industry standard server cabinet and rack. The device has a hot swap out power supply which means if a power supply fails the secondary power supply keeps the server running where it is possible to swap the damaged power supply out and replace with a new one without any downtime to the server.
The server comes with the standard one year warranty but this can be increased to the HP five year service plan that is offered on there servers. The customer service provided when you purchase an HP server is fantastic and this is important to me when making a large purchase its not just about the hardware but also the service you would expect if things go wrong. In conclusion this server is the industry standard and is designed to be a work horse and operating 24 hours a day with out failure. This server runs some large websites which operate 24 hours a day and we have not had any problems yet. I would recommend this server to any medium or large business
Summary: This server is worth the money but as always its best to look around as i have seen it cheaper.
