I feel compelled to respond to the comments made by Guthrie in her review of 25/3/09. I do not recognise ANY of the negative comments therein. I have been a member of ATR for approx. 9mths now and have attended 80% of the social functions and regarding the behaviour of the attendees I have NEVER seen anybody drunk or apparently under the influence of drugs during the actual period of the event. What they do after is not my concern. The standard of the cuisine and supplied wine is usually good. If you wish to go onto the dance floor the music caters for all tastes so there is no reason to sit on the side like a wallflower. As far as costs are concerned this is a decision for the attendee as to whether they wish to stay in a hotel, travel a long distance or spend all night in the bar and should not be the concern of Guthrie. Likewise if any attendees mutually wish to spend the night together thats up to the individuals concerned and no one else.If anyone is looking for someone SPECIAL my experience is that there are always plenty of nice people at the events. Friendships develop by mutual consent and bear in mind you have to be SPECIAL too. Guthries comment "you have to be part of the mix" is a statement I don't understand, she should appreciate that these functions are for the benefit of ALL members and their level of enjoyment is entirely of their own making. For anyone on their own I would thoroughly recommend that they make their OWN investigations into ATR and find a reason to live life to the full once again
