Below is a review of my local Barnardo's in St. Helens that I wrote originally on another site called qype:

Barnardo's is perhaps the most famous of the charity shops in the town. Instantly recognisable because of its logo and green front to the shop, here youou can buy a load of second hand stuff. It is better arranged than other charity shops and has a better choice of second hand goods on offer. These range from shoes and clothes through to musical instruments or cd's/dvd's.

Inside, you can also find more information about the charity and even get involved in some of the schemes that the charity is running. It has been known for people to leave bin bags full of second hand clothes outside the shop when it is closed.

I would recommend using this shop whenever possible as the proceeds are going to a great cause. It is one of the bigger charity shops in St Helens and I have always found that the staff are pleasant and helpful whenever assistance has been required.

Summary: A good place to go for a rummage around for a bargain.
