Advantages: Fun disco and bumper cars

Disadvantages: Felt lied to and ripped off by the company

Last Christmas some friends and I really wanted a brilliant Christmas party, we wanted to push the boat out a bit and do something a little different as opposed our usual 'meal and pub' do.
We looked on the internet and came across 'BEST PARTIES EVER'. Well here is the story .....

What is it ?
Best parties ever are basically a company that holds themed Christmas parties at brilliant venues all over the country, the have various themes including Moonlit in Marrakech, Hot in Havana, To Russia with Love, Wild in Africa, One Night in Bangkok, Atlantis: Party Under the Sea, Cirque Noel, Red Hot in Rio and Midnight in Monte Carlo.
They are mainly geared for big corporate companies but on certain nights of the week smaller groups can book tables of ten or more.

How much is it and what do you get?

Prices start from £35 per head and go up to £49.50 per head depending on if it is sole or mixed group bookings and on how close it is to Christmas.
This price includes (according to their website based on to Russia with love),"Spectacular Theming and Scenery, Live Entertainment, Superb Five Course Dinner, Bond Dancers, Authentic Cossack Dance Troupe, Roulette and Blackjack Casino, Shootouts and Ski Simulator, State of the Art Disco with Intelligent Lighting, Dodgems (small charge applies), Starlit Ceilings and Professional Set Lighting, Crackers and Party Poppers, Full Event Management, On-Site Security, Free Cloakroom, Free Car Parking and Survivors Breakfast!"
Drinks tokens can be bought beforehand and cost £2.50 each these can be exchanged for a single spirit and mixer, a pre mixed bottle, soft drink or pint of beer. The tokens are easier than cash but are not worth any more than cash. (The same drinks would cost £2.50 on the night).

What do you really get for your money ??

We decided we would spend a bit extra and book it up as it looked totally amazing on the website and leaflet they sent us.
The nearest venue to us was Detling - which theme was To Russia with love.
We booked for the week before Christmas and as we were on a mixed group night it cost us £49.50 each. We were so excited and went all out, all the guys wore tux's and the ladies all had beautiful dresses.
This is just a brief translation of their "price includes list"
Spectacular theming and scenery = Some fake snow and Christmas trees
Bond Dancers = Two girls dancing behind a curtain for five mins max
Roulette and Blackjack Casino = Two old blokes standing behind toy roulette wheel and blackjack table.
Shootouts and Ski Simulator = ONE arcade shoot em up game and a similar arcade skiing game.
I could go on and on at our level of disappointment, we wouldn't have minded if we hadn't felt so ripped off and lied to about it. Really calling a table by the door with a roulette wheel on it a 'casino'.

Would I go again ?

We had a nice evening the dodgems were good fun and the disco was cheesy but christmassy fun but as a couple my husband spent over £160 for something we could have got at any seaside. Its not the fact that we spent £160 its the fact that we were misled into beliving that it would be some amazing fantasy world. It wasn't and for that reason I wouldn't go again.

Summary: Was a good night after all a party is waht you make it but felt ripped off .

What a shame - the advertised event sounded quite good as well :-(

Its not the kind of thing I'd go to myself (money issues!!!), but that made your review all the more interesting. What a shame - this seems to be happening more and more.

What a shame - it sounds like it could have been really promising too.
