Advantages: 1/2 price products, vouchers, mini mag (All free)
Disadvantages: none
I requested that Dooyoo add Boots Health club to the catalogue as it's a useful addition to just having an advantage card that not many people seem to know of.
What is the Health Club?
------------------------------------
Boots Health Club helps you save money on things you probably need to buy regularly. It is free to join and gives you health advice and information on products you are interested in.
Anybody can join the Health Club, there are no age limits.
How do I Join?
------------------------
All you need to join the Health Club is an advantage card and even if you don't have one of these they're very easy to get hold of!
Once you have an advantage card you will need to register your email address with Boots.com which is easy and simple to do.
* The first stage is then to select 3 areas of interest from a list, this list includes: Weight loss and healthy eating, Healthy Heart, Kids Health, Vitamins and Supplements, Women's health, Pain relief, Stopping smoking and Allergies.
I chose Vitamins and Supplements, Pain relief and Allergies. This would be a good club to join if you were trying to quit smoking or lose weight as you would probably receive vouchers for products to help you.
Once registered you can change these options if you suddenly find you want information on something different from the list.
* You will then need to link your advantage card to the Health Club as this is how you will receive your money off in-store.
Once registered, Boots will post you a welcome Pack with info about the Heath Club and money off vouchers for you to enjoy, once you receive this you know your advantage card is linked to the Health club for you to benefit from the in-store discounts (I'll tell you more about these later)
What do I get for joining?
---------------------------------------
Boots Health club will send you vouchers; money off and extra points for products from the topics you selected when you registered.
For example the vouchers I received this quarter include: £5 off a Boots TENs machine, Save 50p on all Boots Allergy relief, Free eye test at Boots opticians and 150 advantage card points when you buy any Boots vitamin or supplement. These vouchers are all valid from the 1st October to the 31st January and then you will be sent new ones for different products.
You will receive a mini magazine quarterly, this used to be for your topics you selected but from this quarter Boots have brought together all the topics into one magazine.
For example in the magazine this quarter the cover stories are Getting the balance right with healthy eating, Could you be anaemic? 7 steps to winter wellbeing and All about heart health, Plus the latest health news, supplements update and skin soothers.
If you choose to, you will also receive weekly email updates from the Health club, these sometimes give you exclusive offers online so are worth checking out.
As long as you get your advantage card swiped as you buy them there is a long list of products you can get for half price just for being a health club member.
These include:
Brecon Carreg 1litre water, usually 95p; 47p for HC members.
Boots Paracetamol and Codeine tablets (all varieties)
Boots digital thermometer
Slim fast smoothies
Boots sensitive skin laundry range; including washing up liquid, fabric conditioner etc.
For the full list of products see:
http://www.bootshealthclub.com/half_price_list.ph p
The only problem is not many of the people working on the tills at Boots know about the health club discounts so a few times when I've been buying just a bottle of the Brecon Carreg water they wont take my advantage card as it is under £1 (so I will get no points) until I explain to them I get it half price if they swipe my card. The price is then reduced and they look flabbergasted!
If you are over 60 and a member of the Health club you can also get 10% off ANY Boots branded product in-store, again simply by swiping your advantage card at the till.
It's worthwhile for anybody with an advantage card to join the Health club. You've got nothing to lose!
If you decide you have had enough or are moving to Outer Mongolia where there are sadly no Boots stores then you can opt out simply by un-ticking a box when you are logged into your account.
Hope my review has been useful to everyone,
Leanne.
Summary: Worth having however much you shop in Boots

- 09/12/08 Thanks for this - I never realised all the benefits before - I'm off to check my account again |

- 03/12/08 I joined this as I like the Boots Allergic tablets and my current OH has cats which I'm horribly allergic to, but have had to tell the checkoutstaff they need to swipe my card more than once because I'm spending so little. Their other clubs are equally good if theyre relevant to you as well. |

- 02/12/08 Congratulations on the crown. |
