The international Red Cross was started over 135 years ago by a Swiss man called Henry Dunant. The British Red Cross began in 1905, and has grown from strength to strength. The majority of the workers are volunteers who work in a number of different fileds in the Red Cross. One of the main fields is First Aid. Red Cross volunteers will be seen in places like football matches, pop concerts, horse races and such like. The Red Cross can also load out medical equipment such as wheelchairs, and can also escort the frail and elderly around the venue.
