My Daughter Sophie has been a Brownie for just over 3 years. She had been a Rainbow since she was five and it was a natural transition to become a member of the Brownies. We are lucky in our area to have three brownie packs very close together and although they are all run to some sort of guidelines there can be a vast difference in the childrens experiences depending on the 'owls' in charge. I would recommend talking to other parents and letting your child visit the different packs to see what suits their needs. As a brownie guider for over 5 years, i feel i can discuss this in great depth! Brownies is part of the guide association, and is aimed at girls aged between 7 and 11 years old (5-7's are rainbows and 10-15's are guides). Although brownies are often commonly associated with churches because they tend to meet in them, it is not a christian movement, and is open to girls belonging to all faiths! Each brownie unit is run in a different way, because all leaders are volunteers and bring their own style. Units do however, all run on the basic principles andresources.
