Advantages: They try, with as little time as they have

Disadvantages: There ARE a few nasty people there, to be fair...

I worked on a temporary contract at the CSA earlier this year. I've seen so many people complain about it, I have to add my say...

First of all, bear in mind that the people working at the CSA are underpaid, and treated...not exactly how they might hope to be, sometimes, by their higher-ups. Now, also bear in mind how they're treated with EVERY phone call. NRP's giving them abuse, PWC's screeching down the phone... If you had to deal with that all day, every day, you'd probably act exactly the same as them. They try, but with so much work on their hands, it's difficult - and it's not their fault.

I remember taking a few phonecalls myself during my time there. I remember having NRPs swearing at me and threatening me down the phone, and PWCs blaming me for everything that had gone wrong in their case, even though this was the first time I'd ever dealt with their case.

There are a very few occasions where a PWC was nice to me - I remember one thanking me once, for doing a successful trace on their ex partner. Very few do that - when you tell them you've managed to find their ex partner, most just give a reaction of "what took you so long?" Please understand - if a person is determined to hide from the CSA, they can for a long time.

I've seen people working so hard in that office, and getting nothing but abuse for it. Give them a break and consider what they will already have dealt with during the day. You couldn't do it any better.

Summary: They try.

NRP- Non resident Parent (used to be known as a 'absent parent')

PWC - Parent With Care - the parent who is mainly bringing up the children.

As people with any experience of the CSA should know.

Like you say its not the staff on the grounds fault and there is no excuse for people being abusive but the CSA is pretty useless and badly needs fixing.
