Overkill but worthy of funding. (Comic Relief)

Disadvantages: Takes away form other charities

Have not written for a while, I picked this as the topic to regain my enthusiasm.
Red Nose Day really is a good way to raise money for charities.
It makes us remember that there are less fortunate people than ourselves in the world and highlights their plight to the rest of us.
What I do not remember in years gone by is the complete overkill for weeks beforehand.

The Big brother thing has been great viewing, I wont deny it but everywhere seems to have been following in its footsteps.
We have had it rammed down our throats for weeks now.
Supermarkets, corner shops, all television channels, adverts, newspapers, radio....
The list goes on.

Please dont take it all the wrong way. Im all for helping out and I have donated my own share of money to the charity but remember how this affects the collection for other charities.

This major charity collects from all of its publicity.
I think this takes some of the money away form other worthwhile schemes.
Money that people would have given to Cancer or Hospice charities that collect in the streets may feel a dip in cash.

Then again, Comic relief helps out a wide range of charities that are unable to recieve sufficient funding in other ways.

The whole day gives us a sense of "well being" and "generosity"
Maybe we should think about giving more than just once a year.

My particular favourite piece of tonight's televisual feast will be the David Beckham interview with Ali G. Classic.
