Connexions Direct is a government funded service which aims to help 13-19 year olds who may need help in sorting out problems or need advice.
They are available by emailing, mini-com or by speaking to advisor online or by phone.
It's run by fully trained, caring & professional people who provide a confidential service by phone & they have a commitment to working with young people who may be struggling in getting advice elsewhere.
Their phone service is very flexible - 8am to 2am & they'll even phone you back, if necessary, on your mobile.
They aim to help teenagers themselves, or offer face-to-face interviews with Connexions who have centres throughout the country.
They can help with a wide variety of problems/ issues which can really help young people make decisions - eg career choices, health issues, financial & housing problems, bullying, child abuse, preganancy advice etc. They also work closely with many other agencies so, if need be, they can access other specialist help.
It's good to know that there is somewhere for young people to talk to outside the family/ school or college & that there are friendly people at the end of the line who can help in a non-judgmental, helpful & professional manner.
I know several people who've been helped by this service & know someone well who works for them & would highly recommend giving them a call if you are/ or know of a teenager who needs some advice or reassurance.
Their website's www.connexions-direct.co.uk - there's loads of information there including the phone no which is free to call.
Summary: a confidential, professional & free service for teenagers
