Advantages: Website is good if you already know what you want to do but not how to get there.
Disadvantages: Stupid, lazy staff and considerable spamming.
Connexions are forced down your throat from school until sometime after your 20th.
They make spam phone calls constantly until they have your life's story plus all sorts of irrelevant information they are told to talk about in order to appear friendly. They sent letters which literally contain no info at all - they are about a paragraph long and are obviously only there to advertise there offices.
I have told them many many times I'm not interested, they ignore emails and dodge rejection in phone calls better than bankers on commission.
They have files on everyone which they phone round updating but never use as everyone gets the same service and the same blindingly obvious advice.
Connexions pay massive public sector pensions and have to justify this though footfall so the more visits it takes you to get anything useful out of them the better they like it.
If someone told you where to invest your money you would ask why they weren't seizing the fantastic opportunity themselves, well what about your time?
If the advisors are so good at planning for the future why the F do they go to work in jeans and T-shirts themselves?
They treat you like an idiot but are unable to answer any question, when I said I wanted to work in a particular industry can you guess their advice?
What does the tax payer work 20% of the year for?
They suggested studying appropriate courses or phoning up about vacancies!
What courses are appropriate?
Any course with the industry title in its name!
Well done!!!
And it never ends, they are meant to leave you alone once you hit 20 but I got a letter from them about 6 months after my birthday advertising nextstep which is exactly the same thing, by separating them up they can justify 50% more government funding!
Maybe they are geniuses after all.
Summary: -5/5 cos they activly hunt you down, think of a massive sharks fin always just behind you.

- 16/01/09 I'm sorry about the low rate but I didn't know who or what connexions were before I read this review and unfortunately, I STILL don't know. Please don't assume that readers are already familiar with your topic. Thanks |

- 16/01/09 I agree with most of your comments. But I'm not sure about the pensions. Haven't they been privatised? |
