Advantages: Offer a wide range of courses, Accessible, Good website, Good reputation
Disadvantages: Not all subjects within a level or education are comparatively equal relating to mark schemes
Most of my A level exams are done with the Edexcel Examining board along with my GCSEs where all the science, maths, french and DT: Systems & Controls exams were Edexcel. After sitting many Edexcel papers, I feel they are all very fair, simple and accessible if you have learnt your stuff.
Edexcel are good for students in certain ways such as during results periods. You can get a pin number through your school, which you use to create an account on Edexcel. On results day, you will be able to log into your account and see your results for each exam/module and print off a copy. This is very useful if you aren't going to be near your school at the time, so you can get your results online.
Having done countless past papers and looked through mark schemes for a few subjects, they do seem to differ from subject to subject. For example, in A level biology there are numerous marks up for grabs (e.g. 10 marks for a 4 mark question) however in chemistry, there are only ever 2 available marks for a 2 mark question and so on. In the chemistry mark schemes, they do have alternative wordings but never a choice of marks so it's technically harder to get the marks and chemistry is slightly harder anyway.
The edexcel website itself is easy to browse and has everything from past papers to mark schemes and important dates. Whether you are a teacher or a student, you can go here to find important information about the courses they do and you can even find useful documents such as examination reports. They offer a wide range of qualifications in all subject areas and are the leading examination board.
Thanks for reading
Summary: A leading examination board
