I hve been a girl guide, and i am setting up a new unit in january! Girl guides have changed an awful lot in comparison to the common misconceptions people have about them. They are not a club where girls learn to sew and bake and make bizarre crafts. Instead they are a place where girls can be just that - girls, away from parents, boys and other distractions. Guides can earn badges, but these are on a whole number of subjects with something to suit everyone, from the ever popular chocolate badge, to film lover, agility, world culture and craft. **Overview** well this is something thats really close to my heart, I have been a girl guide or at least in girl guiding literally all my life (I was a rainbow, no i'm a ranger...i'll explain those a bit later on) **history..in brief** Robet Baden Powell the initial founder of scouting, saw that girls wanted to take part in the activities that guys in the scouts could do, but they couldn't because they couldn't join the scouts (well there are ewxceptions actually, but on the whole the weren't allowed) so he created a group for girls which was looked after in a sense by Agnes baden Powell (it's a family affair) Then two pamphlets and a handbook later ...
