If your looking for a person to do some skilled/semi skilled or even unskilled work have you considered putting an advert in your local shop window? No not many people do these days.
How about doing the same on the internet, instead of searching for workers have them search for you.
If your looking over the internet for gardeners/builders etc remember your having to pay for the website upkeep as well as the company and worker...
How about placing a small add on www.work4cash.co.uk advertise the work you want doing the price/rate you want to pay and when you can have them in. Work4cash workers are typically those workers looking for extra cash at weekends or evenings, so your not paying for a big company to take its chunk.
The other good thing about advertising for them is that you have a choice, ask to see pictures of previous work, satisfied clients etc..
