~ ~ Some of the older members here at dooyoo will be aware that the mad cabbie has been attempting to acquire a Broadband internet connection ever since he first put finger to keyboard here at dooyoo way back in December 2000. In fact, my quest to acquire Broadband goes back further than that. When the then incumbent State telecom provider (Eircom) first introduced DSL Broadband here in the Republic of Ireland back in the late 1990's, I was the first in line to sign up. Our Internet Service Provider used to be called Freeserve and we got a really good service from them, that is until it changed to Wanadoo, (dumb name), and our payment schedule was changed and the prices went up and the service levels went down, obviously it's now owned by the French. Anyway after paying premium rate phone charges to the help line we finally got our billing sorted out and we decided to take up the offer of ADSL 1MB and guess what, yes more service pitfalls. After they closed our account for the regular speed broadband they calculated the charges we owed for that and mucked our monthly payments up again and forgot to tell us that our domain ...
