Advantages: simple to use, great service

Disadvantages: none at all!

If you are lucky enough to have a John Lewis in your town then you will probably be a fan. Unfortunately we do not. However, it is still possible to travel to get to one. We could not make use of their wedding list service due to the distance we needed to travel to get to the store and the time constraints we were under (always leaving everything until the last minute!)

This review is based on the experience of someone who has purchased many items from many different John Lewis gift lists.

Their wedding list service is extremely popular. I would highly recommend it. Friends who have used it have all been very appreciate of the service they received.

From the point of view of the guest, I have to say it is a brilliant service. It is possible to browse lists in the shop itself, which is better I suppose for getting a feel for the presents and what you might want to buy but as I said, we do not live near a John Lewis and so we have done all our purchases from gift lists online. It is such an easy website to use.

the bride and groom are given little cards to enclose in their invitations. these contain a number. You simply go onto the John Lewis website. Click weddings and then key in the code. A list of the wanted gifts come up. You can click each for more detail and once you have decided, just put in the quantity you want to buy and check out. It is that simple.

From a guest's point of view, a really great way to buy a wedding gift.

Summary: wedding lists are great for ensuring you don't receive duplicate gifts

John Lewis does have good service, but I hate it when those little cards drop out of an invitation I receive. It just seems a bit greedy to be distributing wedding gift details at that stage, I think!

Nearest one to me is Milton Keynes and friends have used their wedding list service before.
