Advantages: Good product range, no delivery charge, helpful staff
Disadvantages: None
Having a wedding list is expected by guests these days, and makes life much easier for the bride and groom and guests alike. No more ending up with 15 toasters or loads of things you don't even want.
When we got married last year, we had a honeymoon gift list where guests could contribute money towards activities on our honeymoon and make it even more amazing.
However, we also wanted an option for those guests who weren't happy putting money towards the honeymoon, or who would rather buy a gift. We looked at the various options and decided on John Lewis.
Although we don't have a local John Lewis and needed to travel, theoretcially it could all have been done on line which is great for those who don't have one close by. However, we travelled to our nearest store to choose our gifts for the list.
Choosing them is great fun, you get given a handheld scanner and zap everything you want! Every time you go to choose gifts you also get a voucher for free tea and coffee which is great.
We found that the choice of products was great, it had everything we needed and more. The staff in store were friendly, and there were no problems with phone contact either.
Having also used the gift list as a guest at other weddings, the website is user friendly and simple to navigate around, although disappointingly there aren't always pictures of products visible. This is a shame as people tend to like to see what they are buying. I haven't been in store to buy a gift so can't comment on that.
Another good thing is that there is no delivery charge, and this is what put us off some other department store gift lists where the guest was charged. We had no trouble arranging delivery of our gifts once we returned from honeymoon, and all but one item was in stock. One set of glasses was broken but a replacement pair were arranged with absolutely no fuss.
Overall, a great service and I would have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again. Especially now we have one being built in my local area!
Summary: Highly recommended as a wedding gitf service

- 16/08/08 Can I say that this particular wedding guest would not expect a gift list - and indeed is rather relieved when I am not presented with one when sent an invitation, LOL! ;-) |
