Advantages: Easy to manage, after a couple of weeks becomes second nature.

Disadvantages: Need close access to toilet facilities.

Hi, After many years of yoyo dieting including using Xenical prescribed by the doctor, my weight just kept on increasing. As a last resort and due to my increasingly poor health the doctor suggested I try lighter life.

I started lighter life on the 31st Dec 2007, I was weighed in at 25st 13lb (with clothes and shoes on) and am 5ft 11".

I was very keen the first week and found that getting into a routine was easy, I made a point of drinking a minimum of 5lts a day of bottled water and was so impressed when I discovered that I had lost 16lbs in the first week.

The second week I found a lot harder, I was suffering caffeine withdraw, and even though I was sticking religiously to the plan I was waking up dreaming of fried breakfasts and savoury pastries, but I was absolutely gutted when I went for my weigh in to discover I had only lost four pounds. Total 20lbs.

Week Three was much better, I had got over my caffeine withdrawal and felt really good and full of energy. I was still drinking a 5ltr bottle of water a day, and my sleep patterns and snoring were a lot better. Weigh in was 10 lbs lost. Total 30lbs.

Week Four, I was fully on the program and had built up a good routine, I was feeling good and sleeping well. Weigh in this week showed a loss of 7lbs I was also measured again and showed a reduction around my stomach of 5" and around my chest of 2.5". Total 37lbs.

Week Five, Continuing on with the program, I have a bar for breakfast about 6.30am and a soup every 4 hours after this. I drink water throughout the day stopping at about 9.30pm thus allowing me to have a good nights sleep without having to get up more than once to go to the toilet. Weight loss this week (a day early as I am on shift tomorrow) 7lbs. Total 44lbs.

So, I have been on the program for 5 weeks and have lost a total of 3 stone 2 pounds. I would highly recommend lighter life.

Tip: I bought a couple of cheap stick blenders (about £5 each) to make up my soups and keep one at home and one in work.

Summary: Started 31/12/07, 5 weeks of contnued weight loss, Total 44lbs to date.

Congrats on your weight loss. Especially if you have to deal with weight for a long time, its great fo finally find something that works.

As the previous writer has stated there maybe some draw backs but its better than dying due to be being overweight.

And before I forget, you are on a dangerous total food replacement (starvation) diet. You are not only losing weight by way of fat, the 'magical' ketosis stage that is often mentioned with this kind of diet also attacks healthy fat and muscle reserves that are needed to keep the body healthy. That included the heart muscle.
