Advantages: Lose lots of weight , Excellent kickstart to any diet as you lose weight SO quickly., You come out of it a thin person!

Disadvantages: Very very tough to do, Lose your social life for a few weeks, So easy to put the weight back on.

I used Lipotrim to lose weight 6 years ago when i was 19 years old. I lost approximately 3.5 stones over the initial 8 week period that I was using Lipotrim, and a further stone following a healthy eating diet plan the following couple of months. It is definately the best thing that I could personally have done as for all my teenage years I was very very overweight (reaching over 15 stone and a size 24) and I have never returned to anywhere near that size since, and that is the best feeling. It is difficult to understand the difference that being overweight can make to your life...but believe me, it is a huge difference. However, Lipotrim is very hard core and you need to be super committed (I strongly believe that EVERYONE has the willpower within them to lose excess weight if they need and want to, but some people are plain lazy and not committed enough and just moan and moan rather than getting in gear and doing something about it). Here's the lowdown...

Lipotrim - what is it?
It is a total food replacement programme that can only be administered through you GP because it is for people who ARE overweight/obese, not for people who 'think they have chubby thighs' etc. For the full duration of your Lipotrim course NO FOOD WHATSOEVER must pass through your lips. It is chemically designed so that every vitamin and mineral and whatever else you need to function is provided in the shakes. You have 3 shakes a day to replace your normal meal times, or you can also have 'flapjacks' but the name is very very deceiving and they taste like cardboard and are very hard to even swallow, let alone enjoy. The shakes on the other hand (made of a powder and water mix) are actually not too bad (ok, by week 8 I hated them....). You are not allowed to drink anything apart from water, black tea, or black coffee (in moderation). I must admit to having cheated a bit and treated myself to a couple of cans of diet coke a week, but being calorie fr

ee, this made no difference to my weight loss.

You have to attend the doctor's once a week for a check up, weigh in, and blood pressure type test although towards the end when the doctor knew I was totally committed and not cheating, it was reduced to once a fortnight. (In Jersey we have to pay £20 per visit to the Doctor though, so that was my main motivation towards reducing the visits, if you are not paying I would go weekly as the Doctor does provide good morale boost etc and it reminds you why you are doing it and reinforces the commitment). Lipotrim is provided on prescription, and initially you might think it is very expensive. 6 years ago I was paying £18 for a weeks course, but in actual fact this is remarkably cheap because of course you are spending absoluetly no money on food or drink. I got to know the people in my local chemist well getting my repeat prescription, and when after a few weeks the compiments start flooding in telling you how much weight you are losing, all the torment is made worthwhile.

As you have probably guessed, life on Lipotrim is by no means plain sailing. It is pretty hellish, but, it only takes 6 to 12 weeks commitment and you have a whole new life. Seriously it is very much worth it. The main problems...

**Health. Although only prescribed through a GP, many people report that Lipotrim is extremely bad for your health, and there have been reports of people losing their hair, constant fainting etc. None of this affected me personally, but I would say that obvioulsy your GP is your mentor throughout this, and so at the first sign of any problem, let them know and you can come off sort it out. The only thing I did find medically was that I was getting a lot of cramps in my legs and often felt very lacking in energy with my whole body feeling 'heavy'. I'm fit as a fiddle now though, so it was obviously nothing too dramatic.

**Feeling SOOOOOOO hungry! Nothing can p
repar
e you for how you will feel whilst taking Lipotrim. My technique was to fill up as much as possible on water, and you soon get used to the being hungry feeling so it subsides. Never ever once in my 8 weeks though did I cheat and eat anything. I think if you d that once, it is a slippery slippery slope. THat one little quarter of a piece of biscuit would soon become a half...which would soon become a whole etc etc. Here's a tip...smell. I got so much hunger relief from (please don't think I'm weird now!) opening mustard jars and jars of tomato pickle and just smelling them. It gave me that kind of after food satisfied glow.

**Social Life. OK, this is a hard one. Food and Drink is what most peoples social lives revolve around, and many people would find it impossible to refuse invitations to meals out, or miss their friday night in the pub. I had to do it a lot, but just think, you are only missing out for 8 weeks or so, and then you have the rest of your life to live, party and have fun, as a whole new slim you. I am not a big drinker even now, but I found I could still go to the pub and happily sip water all evening. Just make sure you drive, and then you wont be tempted. I did miss out on a few friends birthday meals etc which I would have never ever normally missed, but they totally understood, and that one birthday meal 6 years ago now seems totally insignificant. You can do it if you want to.

**THe other big bummer, is making the shakes themselves. They are much better prepared fresh and with a blender or hand held whisk. Obviously though at work this can be difficult and so you can just make it with a fork, or make it in the morning and bring it in in a flask which was my preferred method!

**Coming off Lipotrim. This was THE hardest part really, in that as soon as you come off you just want to EAT EAT EAT and you are so slim and thin that you hardly know yourself and think the odd ice cream or ch
ocolate ba
r wont really do much harm...but believe me it does. I put almost a stone back on in 10 days. DISASTER. I was feeling so good about myself when I came off Lipotrim, the compliments were flooding in, I was a whole new person, the last thing I wanted to do was ruin this. Although through the doctor you are weaned off slowly, by first introducing one meal etc etc, it is still very hard to control those binges. THerefore my biggest piece of advice, is to join a slimming club immediately. THis was the best thing I could have done. I lost a further 2 stone (well, the one I had put on again, and another!) by eating healthily and well and this taught me how to lose weight sensibly.

Although my weight has fluctuated over the last 6 years and I am constantly rejoining my slimming club to shed those excess pounds, I have never been as overweight as I was, and will never let myself get that bad again. I lost all my weight just before starting university, and I did feel like a whole new person. Anyone overweight who is reading this thinking...I couldn't do that....stop being stupid, of course you could. If you want to, you will. Take it from someone who has been there, done that.

Thanks for reading and commenting

Sophie. A happy size 14.

Great review by Sophia C/O Jersey and It really is a true and honest account of the Lipotrim Food replacement Programme although I have only just completed my First week and lost 9lb!!But,yes it is really hard and needs bucket's loads of willpower especially after the calories I was putting in and peaking at 16st12lb!!EEK!
I gave up smoking last May and can honestly say that it's harder than that but stick with it as I've seen the results on other family members and they are astonishing, but you get out of it what you put in as anything else in life and you can't cheat at all,I have stuck to it by the letter but other people may not be as strict and I am quite stubborn so I think that helps.Soph from Jersey's review gave me the inspiration to write this and good luck to her for the future and anyone else who has done or decides to take on "The Lipotrim Challenge!""

After reading Sophie's review of Lipotrim I am going to give this my all. I need an operation for breast reduction and the only way they will do it is if I lose another stone and get down to 10. I want to get down to 8 stone if I possibly can and I am so determined nothing can deter me now.
I wont miss food although I do love the weight watchers meals and lost a stone with them BUT now I have reached a plateau and haven't lost anything significant in months so time for a change.
I will let you all know how I get on but I think this will be easy cos I have done the Atkins Diet and Slim fast before and this is like the two combined - here'[s hoping anyways....
